His grip tightened around the handles of their luggage. “Lead the way, M’Lady.” Anakin encouraged, following her at a respectful distance, but close enough in case anything would happen.

Comfort came quickly within the speeder, as such feelings usually occurred for him. Along with the pleasant aura of Naboo, Anakin decided their would be much he would enjoy on this… mission. Because it was still a mission. He hated that he had to remind himself.

“What do you think you’ll wish to do while we’re here?” He asked, keeping his gaze level, not allowing emotions to betray him this one time.

“Oh, I don’t know. I guess we’ll just have to see what comes our way.” She turned from the window and gave him a smile. “I do hope you’ll be able to relax a bit while we’re here.” Padmé turned back to look at the passing landscape. Her heart rate had begun to increase. They were nearly there.

Suddenly, Varykino came into sight. Padmé had to shield her eyes from the glare that the water gave. But she was instantly filled with a sense of peace and serenity. A feeling that only this place could give her. A smile broke across her face, and she leaned over towards Anakin. “Here we are. Varykino.” She laughed. “Isn’t it beautiful?” In the distance, she could see the house, standing just as she had last left it. It graced the side of the mountain, like a jewel. And the water came right up to its edge. Oh, how she couldn’t wait to be standing in the soft breeze, the scent of the lake surrounding her.

Anakin could only gaze at the lake retreat with a wide-eyed, wondrous look. His gaze was quickly drawn back to Padmé, however, taking in the happy flush to her skin and the joyous look on her face.

“It’s beautiful,” he agreed.

The speeder landed, and Anakin quickly hopped out, before reaching to take Padmé’s hand. Their luggage was promised to be taken care of.

“Where to first, M’Lady?” Anakin asked, his eyes shining brightly. Her happiness was contagious.

She held on tightly to his hand. There was an irrational fear that if she let go, everything would disappear. The lake. Anakin. The happiness that she felt.

“Perhaps it would be best to go to the house first. I can’t wait for you to see it.” Padmé’s brown eyes were shining as she looked up at him. “I know you’re going to love it, Ani.”

Soon, they were standing inside the lavish retreat house. For the first time in what seemed like ages, Padmé felt safe. Completely safe. She clasped her hands in front of her as she walked around the front rooms, remembering everything as it had been. Turning, she smiled at Anakin. “Do you think you’ll be comfortable enough?” There was a slight teasing edge to her voice.

Anakin already knew he would love it. There was no planet that could compare to the content happiness he felt on Naboo, nor could he ask for better company. It took a moment for him to take in the simple… grandeur of Padmé’s lake retreat. At her teasing, he grinned in return. “I think this will do quite nicely, M’Lady.”

“I’m glad to hear it.” Her smile widened as she walked into rooms and out again, letting memories flood her mind. “Oh, let me show you your room!” Padmé didn’t try to hide the excitement in her voice as she rushed over and took Anakin’s hand, leading him up to the floor where most of the rooms were located. At the end of the hall, she turned and opened two ornate double doors. She led him into a spacious, yet warm bedchamber, complete with a balcony overlooking the lake.

Anakin looked around the room, his expression shifting from curiosity to eagerness. Like the rest of the lake house - like the rest of Naboo - it was elegant and warm, drastically unlike most residences that he was used to. “I think I’ll have no problem getting comfortable,” he remarked, his blue gaze falling back on her softly beaming form.
